Teen Field Day at New River Library - Saturday, April 4th, 10:00am-2:00pm

Looking for something fun to do this Saturday? We have just the thing! The nearby New River Library in Zephyrhills is hosting a Teen Field Day from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, April 4th. They'll have lots of outside games - frisbee, hacky sack, kickball, and more.

Refreshments will be provided and no sign-up is required.

Rockus Maximus Retro Battle of the Bands Highlights!

That's right, our first highlight video from Battle of the Bands XII on March 20th at Crews Lake Park is now up. If you didn't hear, Variance was our winner, pulling off a victory for the 2nd year in a row. Scilter came in 2nd, followed by Tomatoes & Radio Wires and The Distance. Our online voting winner was Hippodrome, with Tomatoes & Radio Wires pulling off another showing in 2nd place.

Battle of the Bands @ Crews Lake Park, Friday, March 20th, 6:00-11:00pm

Yes - it's finally here! The event we all have been waiting for - Pasco County Library System's 12th Annual Battle of the Bands!

Join us at Crews Lake park in Shady Hills for our latest and biggest concert extravaganza, now in its 12th year. We have 8 bands lined up to play and compete for fabulous prizes on the earth stage. As if 5 hours of solid music isn't enough, we will have a covered pavilion where we will have numerous game systems hooked up to play Guitar Hero and Rock Band, plus a food booth selling pizza, ice cream, and snacks.

We will also be giving away hundreds of glowsticks and wands for your after sundown amusement. The best part is that admission is free as long as you have a library card!

Friday, March 20th from 6:00-11:00pm.

Teen Art Contest - Tuesday, March 17th, 6:00-8:00pm

Are you always drawing and doodling in your notebook? Do you like to make stuff out of clay? Or scrap metal? Then we have the event for you! Show off your talents at our Teen Art Contest.

We'll have three categories and you can enter a total of five exhibits:

"2D" which is any artwork, drawing, or painting.
"3D" which is sculpture, pottery or objects of art.
AND an "Anime/Manga" art category.

Prizes will be awarded for the winner of each category and there is no cost to enter.

You can submit your artwork any time beginning March 2nd and then join us on Tuesday, March 17th at 6:00pm where all pieces will be displayed for judging by local artists and library staff. Don't forget to put your name and number on each piece submitted.

Only teens ages 11-18 may submit artwork, however, everyone is welcome to view the gallery on March 17th.

Are you in need of a job? Or interested in changing your career? The Land O' Lakes Library and Career Central are teaming up to show you where the jobs are in this dwindling economy. You will learn all about what Career Central does to help you find a job, such as showing you job lists and providing assistance on how to apply.

Are you ready to get your game on? Then join us for our Halo 3 Team Doubles Tournament!

The competition's been heating up and we'll be awarding prizes from GameStop for the first, second and third place teams. We already have 16 teams registered, but you can still get on the reserve list in case a team drops out.

Chris Coad Taylor, author of The Secrets of Havenridge and the soon to be released Amber Moon and the Rainbow Murders, will be stopping by to talk about her books and offer tips on writing and producing your first novel.
