Summer Reading Club Starting Soon!


The Land O' Lakes Library Summer Reading Club will be kicking off soon!
We'll have events for all our readers throughout the summer. Registration starts May 26th and you can begin reporting on your books June 6th. To register, fill out a free reading club contract at any library or online. See our blog below or go to www.pascolibraries.org for more information.

Babies, Toddlers and Preschool ages 0-5 need to read 20 books. Credit will be given for any books read at storytimes. Baby storytimes are on Thursdays at 11:30am, Toddler storytimes are on Fridays at 10:00 and 10:45am, and Preschool storytimes are on Fridays at 11:30am.

Elementary ages 5-9 need to read 6 books. We'll have fun activities for our Elementary readers on Tuesdays at 2:00pm on the following dates: June 9th, June 16th, June 23rd, June 30th, July 7th, July 14th and July 21st.

Tweens ages 9-12 need to read 6 books. We'll have cool activities for our Tween readers on Wednesdays at 2:00pm on the following dates: June 10th, June 17th, June 24th, July 1st, July 8th, July 15th and July 22nd.

Teens ages 12-18 need to read 6 books. We'll have awesome events for our Teen readers on Tuesdays and Fridays at 6:00pm on the following dates: June 12th, June 16th, June 26th, June 30th, July 10th, July 14th and July 24th.

Readers will receive a prize for each book read AND a prize for completing their commitment. If you read and report on all your books by July 25th, you become a Pasco County Library System Star Reader. All Star Readers will be invited to a final party with certificates and rewards for all!

Baby Storytime - Thursdays at 11:30am


Join us on Thursday mornings for Baby Storytime for ages birth-1. Presented by one of our Children's Librarians, we'll enjoy stories, songs and interactive play just for Babies.

No prior registration is required, just come on in!

Sugar and spice and everything nice. Come listen to storytime at least once or twice. A story, a song, a dance or two, we love our little ones and you'll love us, too!

Saturday, May 30th, 2:00pm - Summer Reading Club Kick-Off Party

Join us to celebrate the beginning of the 2009 Summer Reading Club with a performance by Steve Turner. Listen to him play the drums while you enjoy snacks, and then sign up to be part of the Summer Reading Club!

Summer Reading Program Registration Begins Tuesday, May 26th

The Pasco County Library System Summer Reading Program is starting soon!

This year the Summer Reading Program theme is "Express Yourself" and all of our programs will have a theme of creativity and self-expression. The Land O' Lakes Library will have numerous programs each week for all age groups as follows: Babies and Toddlers ages 0-5 years, Elementary ages 5-9, Tween ages 9-12 and Teen ages 12-18.

Here's how the program works:

Registration begins on May 26th. To register, fill out a free reading club contract at any library branch or online at www.pascolibraries.org. Readers receive a prize just for registering!

Then you can begin reporting on your books on June 6th. Books are reported and tracked using the account created on the library's website. You only need to read six books by July 25th. Readers will receive a prize for each book read AND a prize for completing their commitment. If you read and report on six books or more, you become a Pasco County Library System Star Reader. All Star Readers will be invited to a final party with certificates and rewards for all!

We'll be offering a variety of programs and giveaways all summer, so stay tuned for a list of events and then drop in as often as possible.

T'ween Movie Night - Marley & Me - Tuesday, March 31, 6:00pm

Are you ready for a fun-filled, heartwarming adventure? Then join us at our T'ween Movie Night to watch Marley & Me (rated PG.) Based on the novel by John Grogan, it features "life and love with the world's worst dog."

For ages 9 and up, bring the whole family for a great evening. Best of all, it's free!

Winter Celebration - The Nutcracker - Saturday, December 13th, 2:00pm

Read to a Therapy Dog - Saturday, September 27th, 1:00pm

Would you like to read to Cooper, a certified therapy dog? He loves kids and would be so happy to have you read to him!

Having children read to trained dogs can lessen their nervousness and give them an opportunity to practice.

Why not give it a try on Saturday, September 27th at 1:30pm.

Registration requested. Elementary ages. Limit 6 kids per session.
